CREW CALL FOR CHANGE DEMO 4TH OCTOBER

Brit Crew Stories @britcrewstories Have organised a demonstration aimed at drawing attention to the inadequate support provided to the crew over the past several months.

Crew Call for Change

Wednesday 4th October - opening of the London Film Festival.

This protest is a grass-roots coming together of the UK film and TV workforce in support of the SAG/AFTRA, WGA industrial disputes in the US.

The domestic workforce is not on strike, but in solidarity we are entirely subject to those disputes, many contracts are suspended indefinitely.

75% of the workforce are out of work. 80% directly impacted directly by the US disputes.

35% struggling financially, 15% have already taken out loans to survive, and nearly a quarter of the workforce have said they don’t see themselves in the industry in 5 years time due to the instability.

We want to let those employers know that we exist, and that we are suffering and demand they sit down to resolve this dispute in a fair and satisfactory way.

That resolution, when it comes, will affect us all.

And so far we’ve had no say in any of it.

We want an immediate opening of discussions with those employers as to what this will mean for the below-the-line UK workforce.

We’ve chosen the London Film Festival, not as a target in itself but as the perfect opportunity to spotlight all the incredible creative talent the UK possesses, and simultaneously shine some of that light on us, the workforce who actually make these projects, that are such an important part of cultural Britain.

" We’re here, we’re suffering and we demand to be seen and heard.”

Come and join us for a peaceful protest to help raise awarness and stand along side your comrades, share stories and support each other in this dire time.

We will supply some placards but we encourage you to get creative and bring your own too!

It's opening Gala night at the festival so you might want to wear Black Tie!

Covid is rife again, advise to wear a mask in crowds or to hide your identity if you wish.

LFF is nationwide, if you live outside of London and would like advice or placard designs to stage your own peaceful protest at other venues please do contact BRITCREWSTORIES direct @britcrewstories
